inboccaallupo - Photography by Lisa Catana - Ottawa, Canada

My good friend Lisa Catana has launched a website called inboccaallupo.ca which showcases Lisa’s wicked photography.

Lisa did a fantastic job, and is not only responsible for the wonderful photography, but also the identity and web design.   My part was to help her with the interaction and quickly stitch it all together.

Lisa has gorgeous photography prints for sale, and if you are interested just contact her directly. Also, her work is on display at the Crawford Alexander Gallery until later this week.

Experiments with split toning

Monday, September 21st, 2009

I have noticed that many professional photographers have been using split toning for very pleasing effects with their  photos. In fact, split toning has probably reached the point of overdone, which means it is time for me to learn it. I used the split toning feature in Adobe Lightroom and whipped up these in a matter of minutes. Would you like to know how you can do this too? Watch Yanik’s Split Toning in Lightroom tutorial and learn all you need to know about the split toning tool in Lightroom.

Time for more research so I can master my mimicry technique.

Flash – Nikon SB600

Monday, December 29th, 2008

I picked up the Nikon SB600 speedlight flash for our Nikon D60 as a Christmas gift to Rebecca & myself.  It was hard to not try out it before Christmas morning, however, on December 25th we were able to put it through its paces.

We like the SB600 speedlight and use it often, which is far more than I can say for the camera’s built in flash which I have permanently taped shut.  Our favorite feature is the rotating head which can bounce the flash off of the walls and ceiling to diffuse the light and have it light the subject from a non-direct angle.

More flash photography to come as we figure it all out, and once I sort through the 500 photos we took over the holidays.

Mustaches for Kids & le champion du monde

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

Mustaches for Kids 2008 has come has ended, and we have raised $16,000 for the make-a-wish foundation of eastern ontario.  The razors have removed all traces of the staches.  However; our friend and fellow grower, Paul Galipau [lechampiondumonde.com], was kind enough to take our portraits during the Mustaches for Kids final Stache Bash.

There are some classic, dare I say epic mustaches and costumes.  Look for Magnum PI, Dr. Phil, Freddie Mercury, The Superfans, Mr. McFeely, Sgt. Slaughter, Hal Johnston,  Paul McCartney, Ray Lounsbury and MORE.

You can find the original set at: http://flickr.com/photos/paulgalipeau/sets/72157611202610943/ and you can browse Paul Galipeau’s photography at lechampiondumonde.com

Thanks again to all the grower’s, supporters & photographers! We will see you all next year!

mustaches for kids-week1

Saturday, November 8th, 2008

Week 1 of Mustaches for Kids has ended with a mandatory shave.  We all met at the Clocktower pub to show off our progress and share a pint or two.

Bex captured everyone’s progress from week 1 of mustaches for kids in Ottawa, and the photos will be on the m4k website very soon.  http://www.m4kottawa.org/

I just wanted to share this picture of Jose because I think it is pretty cool…  I have uploaded mustache progress pictures of other 76design co-workers to my flickr.
